National Awakening Day 2025: Pertamina Hulu Rokan Strengthens the Spirit of Securing Indonesia’s Energy Resilience
PEKANBARU - The 117th National Awakening Day is an important moment to reflect on the spirit of unity, cooperation, and national independence. Carrying the theme "Rise Together to Build a Strong Indonesia," Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) reaffirms its commitment to securing the country's energy resilience.
PHR understands that energy resilience is a key pillar of national independence and sovereignty. The company continues to innovate and implement various strategies to increase production efficiently and responsibly.
PHR consistently works to maintain the reliability of 93 active oil fields with around 12,600 wells under its management in the Rokan Zone. Exploration efforts continue in order to boost production by discovering new oil reserves both conventional and non-conventional.
“Pertamina Hulu Rokan continues to contribute to the nation and society. Through strategic efforts and local innovation, we are maximizing our potential and resources to increase production for the country,” said Andre Wijanarko, General Manager of the Rokan Zone.
Beyond operations, PHR also actively engages with local communities through various Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs. This aligns with the spirit of unity and cooperation that defines National Awakening Day.
Through Pentahelix collaboration, PHR’s programs focus on four key areas: health, education, economy, and environment. One important initiative is supporting the government's effort to reduce child stunting rates, helping to create a strong and competitive future generation.
In education, PHR supports teacher training in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and provides scholarships for outstanding students from Riau to pursue undergraduate studies at Pertamina University and postgraduate studies abroad. PHR also empowers Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and offers skill development programs for Riau's youth to support the local economy.
In the environmental sector, PHR works with communities to implement sustainable programs such as Sumatran elephant conservation, waste banks, mangrove and peatland conservation, eco-tourism, and village energy self-sufficiency.
PHR’s community programs also support the preservation of Riau’s Malay culture. Through the Malay Cultural and Creative Economy Center, hundreds of MSMEs are involved in promotingtraditional crafts and local foods, 75 percent of them are women entrepreneurs.
One example is Batik Mandau, a design that combines pineapple and bamboo shoot patterns with oil pump imagery, symbolizing the oil and gas industry that drives Duri’s economy.
PHR also supports the preservation of traditional Malay weaving and education for local youth, especially from the indigenous Sakai community. Various social programs, such as scholarships and career coaching, are provided to Sakai students in Bengkalis and Siak.
On this National Awakening Day, PHR invites all elements of the nation to work together in building strong and independent energy resilience for a better future for Indonesia.
“On this special day, we seek support from the public and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations at Pertamina Hulu Rokan in the Rokan Zone. Let’s work together to build a sustainable energy future,” Andre concluded. (*)
