KERINCI KANAN – Asian Agri and the Tanoto Foundation, in collaboration with the Government of Kerinci Kanan Sub-district, organized a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the form of Basic Skills Training for 82 Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Post) cadres.
The training took place on April 29–30, 2025, at the Village Hall of Simpang Perak Jaya, Kerinci Kanan Sub-district, Siak Regency, Riau Province.
Participants came from five villages in Kerinci Kanan: Simpang Perak Jaya, Kerinci Kanan, Gabung Makmur, Bukit Harapan, and Buana Bhakti. The sessions were led by four experts from the Siak District Health Office.
This program builds on similar initiatives launched in 2023 and reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of Posyandu cadres in preventing and reducing stunting in the communities where the company operates.
Eko Budi Christyanto, CSR Coordinator for Asian Agri in Riau, emphasized that the training is part of the company’s long-term commitment to support local communities, particularly in promoting practices to prevent stunting.
“Asian Agri feels responsible to contribute so that stunting cases no longer occur in villages near our operations,” he said on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Dedi Triadi, Stunting Reduction Coordinator at Tanoto Foundation, added that the training also aims to encourage Posyandu cadres to provide balanced attention to all children, not only those who are already stunted.
“Until now, the focus has mostly been on children who are already stunted. But healthy children also need support to maintain their nutritional status,” he explained.
Heppy Candra, Head of Kerinci Kanan Sub-district, expressed appreciation for the training and thanked Asian Agri and the Tanoto Foundation for their continued support of stunting prevention programs over the past three years. He also highlighted the importance of utilizing local resources, such as homegrown vegetables and fruits, as sources of family nutrition.
Abdul Musahap Siregar, Village Head of Simpang Perak Jaya, expressed hope that the knowledge gained during the training would not only be understood but also applied in day-to-day Posyandu activities.
“If we don’t take care of our own village, who will? This training is a real step toward reducing stunting in our area,” he said.
Through this initiative, Asian Agri and the Tanoto Foundation hope that Posyandu cadres will become more skilled and play a key role in maternal and child health services, while also serving as agents of change in their communities.
The event was also attended by Riza Sizuma from the Kerinci Kanan Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (PKK), Dea Sari, Head of Kerinci Kanan Public Health Center, Sriyati from the Family Planning Field Officer (PLKB), and Elwithra from the Siak District Health Office.(Release)
