PEKANBARU - The price of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from independent palm oil farmers in Riau Province continues to rise.

The Riau Provincial Plantation Office (Disbun) released the latest price data for the period of July 30 to August 5, 2025, with the highest price reaching Rp3,496.29 per kilogram.

Defris Hatmaja, Head of Processing and Marketing at Disbun Riau, stated that the highest increase was seen in 9-year-old palm oil trees.

“The highest price increase was in the 9-year-old group, rising by Rp68.25/kg or 1.99% from last week’s price,” he said on Tuesday (July 29, 2025).

“With this increase, the FFB purchase price for farmers rose to Rp3,496.29/kg, and the shell price is now Rp24.04/kg,” he added.

For this period, the K index used for pricing is 91.80% for the upcoming month. The selling price of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) increased by Rp134.55/kg compared to last week, while the kernel price jumped by Rp849.89/kg.

Defris also explained how prices are set if a palm oil mill (PKS) does not report any sales. According to Article 8 of Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 01 of 2018, the CPO and kernel prices used are the average team prices. If CPO or kernel prices undergo validation twice, then the average price from KPBN (National Joint Marketing Office) will be used.

“This week, the KPBN average CPO price is Rp14,604.25/kg, and the kernel price is Rp12,035.00/kg,” he explained.

Defris said this price increase is mainly driven by rising CPO and kernel market prices. He also emphasized that the improved pricing system is the result of collaborative efforts by all stakeholders, with full support from the Riau Provincial Government and the Riau High Prosecutor’s Office.

“This joint commitment will ultimately improve farmers’ income and contribute to the overall welfare of the community,” he said.
